Our Story
Members of the church of Christ first worshipped together in Blanchard in 1907. From 1907 until 1937, they met in homes, in the old court house, and in the Presbyterian church building at 224 N. Jackson.
In 1937, the church of Christ purchased the building from the Presbyterians and continued worshipping there until 1968, when they built a new building on the same site. The first worship assembly in that building was on July 21, 1968. Additional classrooms were added in 1974.
In July of 1978, the church of Christ sold the building to the First Baptist church. Construction of the building at our 1220 N. Madison site began in March of 1978, and the first worship assembly in that building was on July 16, 1978.
In late 2006, construction began on an addition to the building, adding the current auditorium, classrooms, nursery and restrooms. In 2020, additional construction was completed on a new fellowship hall, kitchen, and offices.
While the meeting locations and accommodations have changed throughout the years, the church in Blanchard has been blessed with dedicated followers of Jesus. Numerous men have devoted themselves to the leadership of the congregation as elders, deacons, and ministers. Countless disciples of Jesus have given of their time, energy, resources, and spiritual gifts to help God’s Kingdom grow in Blanchard.
